Happy Fountain Pen Day!!

There is no time like the present. I've been planning this blog for a long time, but I've never set a launch date because it wasn't right. Well, I now realize it's never going to be right unless I start.

I'm a pen collector, all my life I've loved pens, especially fountain pens. I remember my grandma giving me my first one; I wish I still had it. To her, it was a throwaway since she had modernized with ballpoints, but it was it was new and exciting. That was decades ago, and then ballpoints were new and "The Thing."

The purpose of Working Pen is to review pens, ink, papers and anything else I think appropriate for their use standpoint. All the products I will be evaluating will be from my collection, paid for with my own money. Anything featured other than things I bought will be identified, and their source shared.

I'm not a purist by any stretch. I have all kinds of pens from all over the world. Some pens are "inspired" by other pens, but I'm not picky. It's not up to me to protect a manufacturer's designs or products. I look at pens and ink based on how well they do their job. In some cases, I think some of the inspired pens are as good or better than their inspiration. If a maker is concerned about others getting "inspiration" from their products, they should work to prevent the inspiration, or educate consumers about the difference and why the original is the best.

Time is of the essence, and you probably have more Fountain Pen Day fun and shopping to do, see you soon!
